| If you're sitting comfortably, let us begin. Here is a paper on haptics and audio for mobile phones authored by Conor O'Sullivan and Angela Chang at this year's ICAD conference. ICAD, the International Conference on Auditory Display was held this year in Limerick, Ireland. The paper is called 'Dimensional Design; Explorations of the Auditory and Haptic Correlate for the Mobile Device'. It explains various methods of design for the mobile device, using Motorola's E398 as an engine for testing and audio-haptic design. This paper shows how design for the mobile phone can be enhanced by audio-haptics. This applies to sound/music enhancements in addition to overall UI interactions. Motorola's product portfolio already contain a number of haptic-capable products. Angela Chang's site has more haptic info. |
